Google My Business adds donation & gift card links

Google My Business adds donation & gift card links
Google continues to aid struggling businesses around the world with their latest feature amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Google continues its efforts to aid struggling businesses and non-profit organisations amidst the Coronavirus epidemic with the introduction of yet another new feature which it has just announced will become available to organisations with a Google My Business profile.

The search engine colossus will be slowly rolling out the ability to add donation and gift card links onto company profiles which are generally displayed on the right hand side of search engine results pages whenever brand searches are conducted. This feature is scheduled to be slowly rolled out across the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand over the coming weeks.

PayPal and GoFundMe accounts will both be integrated into the new offering, with businesses also able to add links to pages on the websites where gift cards can be purchased or donations can be made directly. In their announcement, Google commented:

“At launch, we’ve partnered with PayPal and GoFundMe for donations. For gift cards, merchants can link directly to the relevant page on their website or to their gift card offerings with one of our eligible partners, which includes Square, Toast, Clover and Vagaro.”

Google closed their statement notifying that the new feature won’t be of charge nor will any additional fees be of need, however there may be fees charged by Google’s third-party partners.

This is the latest in a long line of new services that Google has introduced to help businesses struggling in the face of the epidemic and subsequent lockdown. This includes an emergency relief fund for journalists & news organisations, as well as a decision to roll back the requirement to reapply for Google Partner status so that existing Partners could “focus on what matters most”.

Here at Kolodo Agency, we are one of the businesses who has benefitted from the decision to roll back the need for us to reapply to extend our Google Partner status. This has given us the opportunity to provide additional assistance to our existing clients as well as the non-profit organisations that we support including Girlguide Organisations and Scouts.

Our Google Partners status makes us perfectly equipped to help you take advantage of all of these new features which have become available on Google My Business, as well as providing vital support at a time when it has never been more important to be as active as possible and visible as possible online.

So, if you’re looking to set up a gift card or donation campaign, contact our team of certified Google Partners today for more information.
